MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST/ADMINISTRATOR

Salary: £15/hour
Location: London, Clapham Common, SW4
Job Type: Part-time
Hours: Approx. 8-20 hours per week (1-2 days coverage)
Working Days: To be determined. The clinic is currently open on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
We seek a dedicated medical receptionist/administrator to join our private dermatology clinic. Currently, the clinic is operated by one consultant (the owner), and this role is crucial for ensuring its smooth operation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Proven experience in a similar reception/administrative role within a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is an advantage.
Responsibilities
  • Welcome patients and greet visitors, ensuring a positive and warm impression of the clinic.
  • Register new and upcoming patients.
  • Book appointments for clinic visits and referrals to external specialists.
  • Assist doctors and patients in urgent situations.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised reception area, bathroom, and doctors’ rooms.
  • Respond to phone calls and handle all clinic correspondence, including emails and mail.
  • Manages a remote/out-of-hours agency, ensuring timely response to all enquiries and smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and notes.
  • Order office and medical supplies, as well as medical equipment.
  • Familiarise yourself with the software used for patient booking (training provided).
  • Chase clinical letters and test results from laboratories, external doctors, and hospitals.
  • Raise invoices, bill insurance companies and chase payments (training provided).
  • Handle prescriptions issued to patients.
  • Oversee the efficient functioning of the entire clinic.
