OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a skilled and organised Medical Receptionist to join our team. As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office. Your primary responsibility will be to greet patients, schedule appointments, and diligently provide administrative support to the healthcare team.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similarly busy administrative role is preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is a plus
  • Proficient in using office equipment such as computers, printers, fax machines, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
  • Answer phone calls and online electronic requests or tasks, directing them to the most appropriate service, department or staff member
  • Use the computerised appointments system to book appointment for patients
    -Deal with requests for repeat prescriptions as per the practice guidelines
  • Assist with scanning patient documents into the patient’s computer medical records.
  • Verify patient insurance information and collect necessary co-pays or payments
  • Update patient records with accurate medical and personal information
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email and physical post
  • General ‘housekeeping’ duties to ensure that the reception & waiting areas are clean and well organised.
  • Ensure that out of date and untidy notices are removed and drawn to the manager’s attention.
  • To open and prepare the surgery for patients’ arrival and at the end of the day to close down the surgery as per the appropriate guidelines
