Halton & Mississauga Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic is an outpatient addiction medicine clinic that provides expert assessment, brief counselling, and medication-assisted treatment for patients experiencing a variety of substance use disorders including opioids, alcohol, stimulants, cannabis, smoking cessation, and benzodiazepine tapering guidance.
Our services are 100% covered by OHIP, and all patients are under the care of doctors with expertise in addiction medicine. We offer same day virtual care or walk-in service, with immediate access to Methadone and Suboxone programs for opioid addiction, and medication-assisted treatment for addiction involving alcohol or other substances. We provide both short-term stabilization and longer-term follow-up care. Patients are also connected with addiction counselling and other supports to assist in their recovery.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently recruiting for a fast-paced and rewarding administrative position in Addiction Medicine, with the job title of Medical Office Receptionist. This is for a part-time position.
In this role, you will work at a front desk of one of our medical offices to perform duties supporting our team. This involves assisting patients, answering the phone, scheduling appointments, processing new patient intakes, and collaborating with pharmacists and other team members to provide care to our patients. Urine drug testing and coordinating patient care are among the job responsibilities in this dynamic and rewarding role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate would have:

  • High school diploma or college degree
  • Completion of a Medical Office Administrator program and or similar certificate would be an asset
  • 3+ years of experience working as an administrative assistant or a related role in a medical office setting
  • Prior experience working in an addiction or mental health-related field would be highly advantageous
  • Friendly, compassionate, non-judgmental
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and solve problems
  • Keen attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate problems and form solutions
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience using EMR software and Microsoft Office Suite is an asset
  • Good comfort level working with computers and technology
  • Provision of a recent Police/Criminal Record Check

Compensation: Compensation for the role will be aligned with candidate’s skills and experience.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Clinic Manager, your key responsibilities would include:

  • Greeting patients, family members, and other visitors to our office (or virtually over the telephone) in a friendly, welcoming, non-judgmental, and compassionate manner
  • Assisting new patients with the registration and intake process
  • Answering the phone and providing assistance to patients, pharmacists, and healthcare providers
  • Perform urine drug testing (training will be provided)
  • Scheduling new and follow-up appointments for our patients
  • Facilitate patient assessments (telemedicine or in-person)
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient records
