This is a reception position in General Practice, which we call a ‘care navigator’.
Mickleover Medical Centre is a fairly large practice with over 13,000 patients that we serve.
As you will have experienced as a patient, Doctors surgeries are very, very busy.
It is a very challenging environment where you may not always be able to give someone what they want. You need to be resilient and chirpy even in the face of difficult conversations. You have to be great and confident on the phone, as at least half your day is answering the incoming phones and dealing with in the moment requests, signposting patients to the correct clinician and having a diligent attention to detail. You will be patient facing on a reception desk for some of the time, along with administration tasks that are heavily IT based.
A good grasp of verbal and written word is absolutely essential, along with a good dose of common sense to handle situations in the moment.
We are looking for flexibility across the working hours of 7.45 am and 8pm, Monday to Friday with some weekend work as needed and your hours will be adjusted in the week to compensate or paid at time and a half if over 37.5 hours per week is achieved. We would look at Part time hours for the right candidate.
The team are a supportive bunch who meet outside work socially. When the circumstances allow, we have practice social events in the summer and at Christmas, with lots of ‘fuddles’ in between!
We are a living wage employer, regardless of age - which means we pay just above the national minimum wage and that those under 25 get the same as those over 25 - provided you can do the job!
We are an NHS Pension employer where 14.38% of your salary is contributed to your pension by the Practice. We also have Childcare vouchers you can get through the Practice and an EAP.
If you want a challenge, this really is - but it is very rewarding when you help a patient.
Send us your CV and a cover note to let us know why we should employ you!
