SUMMARY The job of a Clinic Receptionist is done for the purpose of greeting, instructing, directing, and scheduling patients and visitors in a clinic setting. The receptionist will serve as a liaison between the patient and medical support staff. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Greet patients in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner. Answer telephone, screen, and direct calls take messages, and provide information. Register patients according to the clinic’s protocol. Prepare a new patient’s chart with correct information and paperwork. Balance cash drawer at the end of each business day. Performing other basic clerical duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains forms and supplies required for front desk activities. Attends staff and educational meetings. Adheres to the dress code, attendance, and all other company policies and procedures. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Excellent telephone manners and etiquette. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Excellent interpersonal skills. One year of experience in a medical office setting is preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS Normal for an office environment. Subject to frequent interruptions. Normally works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated area. Must be able to work under the stress and conditions that normally exist in a hospital setting. Classification Category II – Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues but that may require the performance of Category I tasks unexpectedly or on short notice.
