Description About the Role Raleigh Radiology is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Medical Records Clerk to support our outpatient imaging centers throughout Wake County and surrounding areas. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of patient medical records while delivering excellent service to patients, physicians, and staff. The Medical Records Clerk reports to the Clerical Supervisor and plays a key role in ensuring seamless communication and timely access to medical imaging records—all while strictly adhering to HIPAA standards. What You’ll Do Patient Care & Confidentiality Maintain the highest standards of professional care and patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines Review medical records for accuracy and completeness Safeguard all patient and employee information with strict confidentiality Medical Records & Imaging Support Upload, manage, and attach medical records, images, and reports to patient charts Request medical records and DICOM images from outside facilities using ROI forms Upload images and reports for comparison across all imaging modalities Burn DICOM images to CD/DVD using MACH7 VNA Ensure accurate and preferential delivery of images per referring physician profiles in EIS Communication & Customer Service Answer and triage incoming phone calls from patients, referring physicians, and outside facilities Communicate record availability with internal and external healthcare providers Assist physicians and staff with medical record requests Coordinate with couriers for CD delivery and interoffice supplies Team & Office Support Collaborate effectively with internal departments and external partners Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Serve as a positive team player, demonstrating courtesy, empathy, professionalism, and respect Safety & Compliance (15%) Follow all safety and infection control policies Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and unusual occurrences Ensure required equipment and protective gear are available and used appropriately Other Duties (5%) Perform additional responsibilities as assigned Requirements I. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE A. Education: High School graduate with 1-year experience in a healthcare environment, associate degree a plus. B. Experience: 6 months of healthcare industry experience, doctor’s office, insurance provider. C. Certification: None D. Licensure: None II. DESIRED SKILLS Ability to type 45 words per minute. Able to learn other all applicable software programs as needed. Able to work independently, detail-oriented, and ability to follow directions. Bilingual is a plus. Flexibility, dependability, and professionalism are required. III. WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to read without strain printed material the size of typewriter characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily; may be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Lifting supply boxes. Subject to rotating holidays or shifts. IV. NATURE OF SUPERVISION A. Supervised by: Clerical Supervisor
