Description Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a Medical Records Tech (Records Release). Essential Job Responsibilities: Accurately and efficiently scan and import patient-related medical records into the clinic’s electronic health record system. Assist with processing, tracking, and retaining scanned/imported documents in an organized manner. Follow up on all messages and phone calls from physicians and clinic staff. Interact with other departments, administration, and physicians regarding medical records and PHI, as necessary. Properly route all files and documents. Assist in locating patient records. Clarify and resolve confusing or problematic issues regarding medical records. Remain current on HIPAA rules and regulations associated with protected health information. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Medical terminology preferred. Electronic Health Information certification preferred. Previous health care and/or medical records experience helpful. Other Requirements: None. Performance Requirements: Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of medical record protocols and legal and ethical requirements related to keeping patient information confidential. Skills: Skill in spotting mistakes or inconsistencies in patient identification on documents. Skill in keeping up-to-date with technological changes. Skill utilizing office equipment to include printers, copiers, fax machines. Abilities: Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to work independently in a quite office setting. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with physicians and other clinic staff. Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, scanners, etc. Work Environment: Quiet and comfortable office setting. Position is in well-lighted office environment. Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder. Hazards related to sitting in the same position for long periods of time. May suffer wrist, back, neck, or eye problems due to strain and risk of repetitive motion injuries. Constant pressure to be accurate and productive can be stressful.
Responsibilities
The Medical Records Tech is responsible for accurately scanning and importing patient medical records into the electronic health record system. They will also assist in organizing and tracking these documents while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
