Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for a Medical Records Technician to work at our newly renovated facility at 205 Hollow Tree Lane, Spring, TX .

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for the accurate collection, organization, and maintenance of medical records within a secure correctional healthcare setting. This position ensures confidentiality, compliance, and timely documentation handling to support patient care and legal requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 2 years of medical records experience required preferably in a hospital environment. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

POST HIRE REQUIREMENTS:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include physical agility test and pass an annual background check.

Responsibilities
  • Collect, file, and maintain health records for incarcerated individuals in compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Retrieve and deliver charts and documents to clinical staff as requested.
  • Prepare, organize, and file medical documents such as progress notes, lab reports, orders, and outside consultations.
  • Process medical records requests from internal departments, external providers, or legal entities with proper authorization.
  • Maintain accurate logs and tracking systems for records movement and chart completion.
  • Support the intake and release process by ensuring health records are created, updated, and archived appropriately.
  • Audit charts for completeness and flag missing documentation for correction.
  • Respond to record-related inquiries while upholding strict confidentiality and security.
  • Operate electronic medical records (EMR) systems and perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Follow facility policies regarding safety, security, and patient privacy at all times.
    It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
