JOB TITLE: MEDICAL RECORDS TECHNICIAN (ROI) GOVERNMENT AGENCY & LOCATION: Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Central Texas Veterans Health Care System Building 163 1901 Veterans Memorial Drive Temple, Texas 76502 POSITION TIMING: Immediate hire upon Contract Award and completion of all background and security investigations. Candidates must be willing to sign a Letter of Intent for submission with their resume. HOURS/DAYS OF SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm CST ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Process and release medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with federal and VA privacy requirements. Review and validate Release of Information (ROI) requests for accuracy and proper authorization. Locate and release records using electronic health record systems and ROI tools. Meet required turnaround times while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy. Document actions and communicate with VA staff as needed QUALIFICATIONS: At least one (1) year of full-time experience as a Release of Information (ROI) Technician or Health Information Technician performing ROI functions in a medical setting. Working knowledge of HIPAA, Privacy Act, and health information confidentiality standards. Experience using electronic health record systems and ROI software. Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
