1 To participate in the laboratory working roster encompassing working hours and luncheon intervals.
2 Reports to the Chief Medical Scientist in the Histo/neuropathology Department and/or report on a day to day basis to the designated Senior Medical Scientist in charge.
3 To perform the Histo/neuropathology work to the highest professional standards as determined by the Consultant in Charge/Chief Medical Scientist.
4 Participate in training staff and students as required.
5 Ensure in co-operation with the Consultant in Charge/Chief Medical Scientist /designated senior staff, appropriate compliance with International and National Guidelines and Standards for the provision of Histo/neuropathology Lab service and actively participate in Internal and External Quality Control.
6 Actively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities consistent with the post.
7 Co-operate in evaluating equipment, consumables and research projects.
8 Observe the strictest confidence when dealing with all aspects of patient or Hospital information.
9 The chosen candidate will participate in ensuring that effective safety procedures are in place to comply with Health and Safety at Work Act.
10 Assist and co-operate with the Laboratory Management team in developing procedures to be followed in preventing and managing accidents occurring in the work area.
11 To prepare and stain specimens for histological evaluation, according to standard operational procedures.
12 To perform such other duties appropriate to the office as may be assigned to him/her by an officer designated by the Board in consultation with the Consultant in Charge/Chief Medical Scientist/Senior in charge. As per MF-GEN-0098 contained in staff members training folder.
13 To comply with the requirements of ISO15189 during all activities carried out in the department.
