* Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Marion GP Plus – Bone Density Unit SADES * Salary $88,255.00 - $108,809.00 p.a. (Pro Rata) MeS2| 0.4 FTE – Contract available until May 2027 We are looking for a Medical Scientist to join our Bone Density Unit at GP Plus Marion!  The Bone Density Unit provides a bone density scanning service to the outpatient clinics of Southern Adelaide Local Health Network and the broader community About the role:  Reporting to the Head of Bone Density Service, your duties as the Medical Scientist will include:  * Ensuring all clients are positively identified prior to commencement of examination and all relevant client and examination data is recorded. * Performing routine and specialised bone density testing using dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry and derivative techniques, requiring the selection and application of said techniques to meet individual client requirements and adhering to departmental imaging protocols and legislative requirements. * Performing post -imaging processing. * Ensuring the calibration and ongoing quality assurance of bone density testing as per national and internationally recognised standards. * Engaging in quality control and bone density related research under the supervision of the reporting clinician. * Liaising with and provide advice to senior medical staff regarding interpretation of unusual and technically complicated cases About you: * Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent. * A Degree in Medical Radiation or a qualification that is recognised by the Australian and New Zealand Bone Mineral Society which permits the holder to undertake the Bone Densitometry Clinical Accreditation training course. * A license to operate an ionising radiation apparatus issued by the Environmental Protection Agency of South Australia. * Experience in the practical day-to-day operation of dual-energy x-ray absorptiometers. * Detailed knowledge of the reporting and filing mechanisms associated with current bone density scanning.
