Hornchurch Healthcare is a growing and ambitious practice committed to providing high quality patient care whilst fostering a safe and fulfilling working environment. We are looking for a friendly, empathetic and collaborative individual to join our team.

The role includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • To provide efficient secretarial support for GPs and Health Professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, emails, etc. accurately and to a high standard.
  • Coding patient discharge letters and uploading onto patient’s EMIS record.
  • To assist the Practice Manager with all clerical and administrative duties.
  • To make appointments as required.
  • To liaise and arrange meetings as required.
  • To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written information is easily accessible and secure.
  • To assist with the completion of medical/insurance records.
  • To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
  • To provide cover for members of the Admin team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
  • In liaison with the person responsible, maintain adequate supplies of office stationery in order to perform your secretarial duties.
  • Work alongside the Practice Manager and Administrative team to ensure the smooth running of the practice.

Minimum requirements: Candidates must have experience in working at a GP practice in a similar role and be proficient with EMIS. Additionally, the successful candidate must be flexible – shifts are changeable and there is an expectation to cover sickness and annual leave. It is essential to have good written and verbal communication skills, as well as an aptitude for effective organisation and planning. In such a role, excellent customer service, together with a willingness to work within a team, is crucial
