Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

As a Medical Secretary with us, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing a comprehensive secretarial service to one or more consultants, dealing with enquiries, correspondence and prepare letter correspondence following dictations. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact and develop your career.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • When requested, schedule patient appointments.
  • Ensure the timely sending of typed clinic dictations to all relevant parties for the patient’s pathway.
  • Ensure referral letters are received and assessed daily and that the patient referral letters are moved quickly through the registration system and appointments made for outpatient consultations.
  • Coordinate and ensure all diagnostic results are shared promptly with the consultant.
  • Ensure the consultant’s diary is maintained and agree a system for diary management with individual consultants.
  • Facilitate medical staff leave through diary management and communicating with the relevant personnel responsible for processing leave requests.
  • Liaise with other medical professionals as directed by your consultant.
  • Occasionally work outside of core business hours to ensure any sudden peaks in workloads are resolved swiftly.
  • Adhere to company standards in respect of appearance, behaviour, and demeanour at all times.
  • Ensuring that all clinic lists are expedited in a timely manner to external hospitals where necessary.
  • Carry out duties appropriate for a post of this nature.
  • Proactively undertake continual professional development (CPD).
