Overview The Medical Secretary provides clerical support to the Pathology department, including answering telephones, typing pathology reports and other correspondence, filing, screening visitors. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or GED. Additional education from an accredited college or university strongly preferred. Experience: Minimum of one-year medical experience preferred. Transcription experience preferred. Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in the identification and reporting of number and names. Must be proficient in use of computer and word processing skills. Must be able to type minimum 50-60 words per minute and be able to type from a dictation is preferred.
