£24,442-£29,115 FTE DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly town centre GP Practice as a Medical Secretary to cover maternity leave.
This is a great opportunity to join a hard working and committed team of clinicians and administrators. We provide services to 12,000 patients in High Wycombe and have a CQC rating of “Good”. Our secretarial team is an integral part of our Practice and the team’s knowledge and efficiency is highly regarded by our wider staff. You will need to have exceptional attention to detail, be highly accuracy and audio type to a minimum of 50wpm. Healthcare experience is desirable but not essential.

The main duties will include:

  • Submitting patient routine and 2 week wait referrals. Coordinating with patients and the appropriate care departments/agencies.
  • Producing and submitting clinical letters and reports as requested/drafted by our GPs and Health Professionals.
  • Dealing with clinician and patient queries with regards referrals, medical reports and insurance reports.
  • Communicating effectively with individuals across the surgery and with third parties, with appropriate regard to confidentiality.
  • Reviewing and submitting medical records to insurance companies, Subject Access Requests and 3rd party medical reports.
  • Providing cover for other members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.

The role is varied and busy and would suit an individual who has previous administrative experience and is able to prioritise and organise a busy workload, use their own initiative, communicate across all levels of the Practice, and has exceptional attention to detail. It is very important that you are a strong team player and have the flexibility to cover or alter your working days for holiday and sickness.
You must be IT literate and a competent typist / audio typist to apply – minimum 50wpm.
Starting pay is dependent on competency and qualifications. Staff are enrolled in the NHS Pension Scheme, which is a contributory scheme by both the member of staff and the Practice. Staff are not normally permitted to be registered at the Practice they are working at.
Closing date: 24th June but interviews will be arranged on an ongoing basis and the role may be closed before this time.
