The position provides psychosocial services across the continuum of care, including assessment, crisis intervention, care coordination, and mandated abuse reporting. The Medical Social Worker Supervisor provides information, consultation, in-services, and professional support to the multidisciplinary care team, as well as staff support, training, and case consultation. The position supervises the coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical social work staff performance and service delivery. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field Two (2) years of social work experience in an acute care hospital setting One (1) year of experience in lead or supervisory role Preferred Qualifications: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Experience with discharge planning Bilingual in English and Spanish Demonstrated competency across infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric developmental stages, including substance use disorders, terminal illness, and mental health Knowledge of psychosocial assessments and the ability to develop appropriate interventions in crisis situation and ongoing case management Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides direct social work services and counseling to patients and their families. Performs discharge planning in collaboration with the interdisciplinary car team. Provides crisis intervention services as needed. Develops and conducts in-service education programs. Provides day-to-day supervision of assigned social work staff. Participates in performance improvement activities. Participates in planning and development of social work services for selected hospital programs. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: The Medical Social Worker Supervisory directly supervises social work department staff while maintaining all duties of a Medical Social Worker. Supervision includes overseeing staff scheduling in the absence of the Manager of Social Services, providing staff support and case consultation, and responding to patient or family concerns as appropriate when the Manager is unavailable.
