About the Role The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible is responsible and accountable for all functions relating to credentialing and re-credentialing of the medical staff and allied health professionals as appropriate for the company. The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing database system. The Credentialing Coordinator assures optimum performance of the department and is knowledgeable of Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and other regulatory agencies as they pertain to medical staff and allied health professionals.  POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  * Coordinating the credentialing, re-credentialing and clinical privileging process of new applications and reappointment for allied/medical health professionals in compliance with the medical staff bylaws, medical staff policies and procedures, AHP policies, JCAHO, CMS standards and other regulatory agencies.  * Conducts thorough background investigation, research, and primary source verification of all components of the application file.  * Identifies issues that require additional investigation and evaluation, validates discrepancies, and ensures appropriate follow up.  * Obtains primary source information through utilization of verification software/ databases as well as approved verification sites via the Internet for online and electronic verifications.  * May be required to travel to facilities as needed for credentialing purposes.  * Monitors the initial and reappointment process for all medical staff, Allied Health Professional staff, Other Health Professional staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies (Joint Commission, NCQA, URAC, DNV, CMS, federal and state), as well as Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies, and procedures.  * Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.  * All other duties as assigned.  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  * High school diploma, some college preferred.  * CPCS Preferred (or will obtain within 12 months).  * Computer skills required: databases, Microsoft Word, Excel,  * Credentialing experience preferred.  Why Join Legent Health?
