Description OVERVIEW: Assists in the review, recommendation, approval, and notification processes for credentialing activities. Identifies, investigates, and assists in resolving potential credentialing issues. Facilitates the clinical privileging process. Provides support for committee, department, or medical staff meetings and ensures appropriate follow-up occurs. Supports accreditation surveys that include review of practitioner credentials, related policies, and medical staff documents. Participates in the administration of departmental policies and procedures. Assists in the maintenance of required record-keeping and documentation. Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma (or equivalent) and two years of experience in an acute care hospital, managed care organization or a credentialing verification organization or Bachelor's degree in a related field. General knowledge of accreditation standards, state and federal regulations and applicable medical/legal issues preferred but not required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 2013 (Outlook, Word and Excel) and have experience with word processing and database management computer applications. Must have accurate data entry abilities. Achieve CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Services Management), CPCS (certified provider credentialing specialist.), or CPC (certified professional coder) certification as soon as eligible.
