DESCRIPTION

The Medical Supply Technician is responsible for the management and distribution of medical and administrative supplies within a healthcare setting. The technician interacts directly with clinical and administrative staff to provide supply-related support and information. The role requires effective communication with supervisors regarding supply issues and adherence to established inventory procedures and delivery schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) year of specialized experience providing medical supplies and materials in a healthcare setting. This includes tasks such as scanning, barcoding, receiving, storing, and distributing supplies; maintaining inventory using automated systems; monitoring stock levels and expiration dates; cleaning areas per aseptic standards; and assisting customers with supply-related inquiries.
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States without an employer sponsored visa.
  • Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearance.
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pulls stock inventory and material for delivery; replenishes stock inventory; interacts with clinical and administrative customers and maintains records on stock levels.
  • Communicates to the Lead or Supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures.
  • Provides information to customers regarding medical supplies.
  • Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates.
  • Monitors and controls critical supplies.
  • Performs daily inventory using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment.
  • Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock.
  • Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems.
  • Delivers supplies in a timely manner and ensures supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition.
  • Completes specialty cart preparation.
  • Cleans assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles.
  • Receives supplies and material into the medical center’s catchment area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
