Medical Technologist Lead (MT Lead) – Bradenton, FL Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Schedule: Mixed Shifts (7–10 hour shifts; evenings/nights as needed) Pay Range: $32.62 – $48.93/hour (based on years of experience) Overview An acute care hospital in the Bradenton area is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist Lead to support laboratory operations across multiple technical disciplines. This leadership-level role combines advanced bench work with shift-level oversight and serves as a key clinical resource during evening and night operations, including trauma support. This opportunity is ideal for senior Medical Technologists looking to step into a lead role while remaining hands-on in a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment. Responsibilities Perform stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in licensed technical disciplines. Apply advanced laboratory medicine principles and independent judgment to ensure accurate, timely results. Maintain active licensure, competency, and regulatory scheduling in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology. Serve as the primary laboratory point of contact for the facility trauma team during assigned shifts. Support evening and night shift laboratory operations with limited on-site supervision. Perform non-technical duties including specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as required. Ensure compliance with departmental procedures, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. Support department goals related to quality, service excellence, patient safety, and staff collaboration. Assist with coordination of intra- and inter-departmental laboratory activities as needed. Qualifications Required Associate Degree in a science-related field. Active Florida Medical Technologist license. Minimum 3–5 years of hospital-based medical laboratory experience. Experience working across Blood Bank/Immunohematology, Chemistry, and Hematology. Demonstrated ability to function independently during off-shifts. Strong critical-thinking, leadership, and decision-making skills. Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field. Experience routinely scheduled in five or more laboratory areas.
