Description Overview Tanaq Management Services (TMS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. About the Role We are seeking a Medical Technologist to perform a variety of complex and specialized clinical laboratory tests in one or more areas of the laboratory, including hematology, chemistry, immunology, microbiology, serology, and blood banking. This position ensures accurate, precise, and timely results in accordance with established laboratory procedures, regulatory standards, and quality control guidelines. This is a fully onsite position at a medical facility in Sisseton, South Dakota. Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or shift rotations. This position is contingent on contract award. Responsibilities Perform and interpret advanced laboratory tests in assigned departments. Validate, document, and report results in compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment. Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing programs. Evaluate and implement new testing methodologies and assist in method validation. Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, and handling procedures. Monitor and maintain reagent and supply inventory. Participate in the training and orientation of new employees, students, and interns. Maintain accurate records of all testing activities and maintenance logs. Adhere to all safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies. Perform other related duties as required. Requirements Required Skills and Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory. Proficiency in routine clinical laboratory procedures and safety practices. Experience with Quidel Ortho Vitros 5600, CoaguChek analyzer, INR testing, Triage analyzer, real-time PCR. ELISA, Clinitek Advantus Urinalysis analyzer, serology qualitative screening tests, operating microscope and centrifuges, and performing culture plating, bacterial isolation, and identification highly desired. Experience performing quality control / quality assurance for assays highly desired. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Proficiency in basic laboratory instrumentation and data entry systems. Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and EHR computer software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with laboratory regulatory requirements and ability to comply with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, facility-specific laboratory standards. Excellent organizational and communication abilities. Ability to adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local laboratory regulations (CLIA, CAP, OSHA). Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards. Ability to participate in required safety, competency, and continuing education programs. Maintain familiarity and comply with Federal, State, Indian Health Service, accreditation standards, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service (CMS) regulations, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and departmental regulation and requirements. Strong organizational and communication skills. Must meet all credentialing and background investigation requirements, including Tier 2 with Subject Interview (T2S) and state and local criminal history checks, and drug testing. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. Education and Training Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related biological science required. ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist required as per state/facility regulations. Must have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Physical and Working Conditions Must provide proof of current immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Flu) status and a current PPD within the past year. Work involves exposure to biohazardous materials and infectious agents. Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, lab coat, and face protection. Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and fine motor manipulation. May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on department needs. Walking, reaching, bending, and stooping. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds regularly. Must be able to work fully onsite at a medical facility in Sisseton, SD.
