Description
Overview Conducts a variety of laboratory tests and duties according to established laboratory procedures, and in compliance with Cherokee Nation Policies and Procedures, Rural Health Guidelines and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA'88), and Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA) regulations, or any other applicable rules, regulations and guidelines while working under the supervision of a Laboratory Supervisor and/or Laboratory Director. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university or have graduated from a Medical Technology School approved by a recognized accrediting organization. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT No additional experience is required. COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must be a registered Medical Technologist or registry eligible and must obtain registry within six (6) months of hire and maintain throughout employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire and maintained throughout employment. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Documented training with annual re-evaluation for laboratory procedures and operation of laboratory instruments. Must be able to meet the sensory and physical requirements of the job. Must possess current technical and analytical knowledge including the ability to perform and evaluate laboratory testing in the multi-modality areas of the laboratory. Ability to perform phlebotomy services as required. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
