JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly accurate Medical Transcriptionist for our one day surgery centre in Shakbout to join our healthcare team. The primary responsibility is to transcribe dictated audio recordings from physicians and other healthcare professionals into written medical reports, correspondence, and administrative material.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or similar role.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
  • Strong listening and typing skills with high accuracy.
  • Familiarity with transcription equipment, speech recognition software, and EHR systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification as a Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) or Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a hospital or clinic setting preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Listen to and transcribe voice recordings of medical reports, patient histories, discharge summaries, operative notes, and other healthcare documentation.
  • Interpret and edit dictation by physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Review and proofread transcriptions for spelling, grammar, clarity, and medical terminology accuracy.
  • Ensure all medical records are transcribed and formatted in accordance with healthcare facility guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information following HIPAA and institutional policies.
  • Use electronic health record (EHR) systems and transcription software efficiently.
  • Flag inconsistencies, unclear dictation, or missing information and consult with the relevant personnel for clarification.
  • Meet daily or weekly productivity and quality targets.
