Job Summary: The Medication Aide is responsible for providing direct patient care within scope of practice to residents of Prairie Pines Lodge Assisted Living and Independent Living. Assists in the care of the patient and is certified to administer medications. Must complete training in the following areas: basic review of body systems and drug effects on each, medical terminology, drug classifications, dosage, measurements and forms, storage and accountability, problems of observations in drug therapy, administration by oral, optic, ophthalmic, nasal, skin and special categories. Works under the supervision of a nurse. Requirements Primary Responsibilities and Duties: Passes medications in a sanitary manner, according to facility policy on medicine and according to regulations governing the Provision of Medications by Medication Aids. Charts all medications accurately in appropriate place. Must provide medications following the fourteen competency standards. Assists any resident with minimal care such as: bathing, dressing, making bed, ensuring resident gets to dining room, etc. Is aware of resident’s rights. Treats residents with consideration, respect and full recognition of his/her dignity and individuality Experience: No prior experience is needed. On the job training. Education: Minimum of 10th grade education. Licensure: Must possess active 40-hour Nebraska Assisted Living Medication Aide License. Keep Medication Aide license active and complete yearly competency testing. Current CPR certification.
Responsibilities
