Job Summary The Medication Aide, dispenses medications under the direction of the Resident Care Director and helps residents with activities of daily living and caring for the resident's environment, including laundry and housekeeping. The Medication Aide must be sensitive to the needs and desires of each resident and attempt to improve and enrich their lives. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma/GED, current certification as a Registered Medication Aide in this state or ability to be med-delegated, and at least two years of experience, preferably in a long-term care setting or assisted living community. Candidates must have a genuine desire to help others and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Essential Functions Dispenses medications under the direction of a licensed nurse according to established procedures Assists resident with all personal care functions as needed Assists residents at mealtimes and monitors residents’ eating habits as needed Assists residents to and from daily activities as needed Cleans and organizes the resident’s apartment and assists with laundry as needed Measures and records vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, etc., and reports any changes in condition Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards Communicates with residents and families regarding care Attends all in-service staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations High school diploma or GED Certified as Registered Medication Aide in this state or ability to be med-delegated At least two years of experience in an assisted living community preferred Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress Detail Oriented Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen Education High school diploma or GED Licenses/Certification Med Certification or ability to be med-delegated Experience Two-years’ experience in senior living preferred.
