MEDICATION SERVICES MANAGER Summary: Under general direction, provides leadership and coordination of targeted medication education, rehabilitation services to staff, individuals with mental illness, and their families. Overall medication room oversight. Utilizing medical knowledge and clinical judgement, assures the quality and timeliness of medication services. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: * Work with Psynergy MD to coordinate and process all medication consents. * Coordinate all prescriptions by Psynergy MD and Out-side provider with pharmacy. * Prescription and doctor order clarification * Provide support and coordinate all prescription refill shortage with pharmacy including Psynergy MD and outside providers. * Assist pharmacy to distinguish prescriptions provided by outside medical providers and Psychiatrist, which prescription to follow. * Monitor all medication management technology system (Quick Mar) for accuracy and provide necessary support to Medication department for any inquiry. * Update all Rx by outside provider on Electronic Record (Harmony) * Coordinate and monitor for all non-covered prescriptions that need prior authorization among Psynergy MD, insurance and pharmacy. * Coordinate and monitor all lab needs for all clients, report for any abnormal lab results. * Order and manage all injections for all sites including private clients. * Administer long-acting injections as needed. * Provide medication support service to clients as needed. * Arrange all prescriptions sent and arrange all needed lab for clients. * Work with residence and counties on admissions and discharges * Confirm prescriptions accuracy for admission, provide required documentation for discharges. * Coordinate all primary care and specialty ‘s care for all clients. * Monitor all client’s weekly medication dispensing, medication change and check their MAR for accuracy / discrepancy. * Order all needed medication refills for clients. * Arrange all LPS renewals with two Psynergy MD before court due date. * Arrange PPD for pending discharge clients. * Order all PPD and syringes for all sites, monitor PPD for expiration date. * Work with human resources to process all new employee’s health screens within 7 days of hire date. * Attends and participates in staff, program, agency and community meetings and training as required. * May require after hour and weekend work. * Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent; certification in vocational or psychiatric nursing. Five to 10 years nursing experience, of which at least three years must be in mental health setting.   CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: * California Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. * Certified First aid training from an accredited institution. * CPR certification. * Valid Driver’s License - Must meet insurance underwriting requirements. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by Title XXII, licensing regulations including FBI and DOJ clearance. A health screening, by or under the direction of a physician, must have been performed not more than one year prior to employment or within seven (7) days after employment. Health screening must include TB clearance not more than one year prior to employment or within seven (7) days after employment. Must have a “valid” standard first aid card from an accredited institution. Must be physically able to assist clients and/or staff in the evacuation of program facility in emergency situations. Must be able to administer first aid in an emergency situation. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: The following are required in day-to-day performance of the duties of this position: Walking, Sitting, Pinching and Finger Flexion, and Visual/Auditory Acuity are required constantly (over 1/3 of the workday); Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Bending, Stooping, Crouching, Kneeling and Twisting are required occasionally (under 1/3 of the workday). Balancing, Climbing and Crawling are generally not required. Monday - Friday AM (8:00am - 5:00pm)
