DESCRIPTION:
Are you a passionate data engineer who enjoys working on innovative data services? Join us at Stantec Netherlands and work on groundbreaking projects. Your expertise will help improve our living environment, accelerate the energy transition, and reduce societal costs. Be part of a team that designs, builds, and delivers sustainable solutions with real impact!
At Stantec, we use modern technologies and extensive environmental knowledge to assist our clients. With the Soil Risk Map, we provide quick and affordable advice on underground risks such as soil contamination, explosive war remnants, groundwater levels, archaeological and ecological values. As you can see, our product is infused with large national data sources that are far from fully developed. Additionally, machine learning will play an increasingly central role in the coming years, with both data engineers and data scientists playing a crucial role in its implementation within our big data product landscape.
As a Data Engineer, you are the driving force behind designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and innovative data services. You design and build CI/CD-based ETL pipelines within a solid structure of Azure Landing Zones, enabling us to create secure, scalable, and future-proof data solutions and prepare them for machine learning applications. Additionally, you are responsible for improving our products by utilizing advanced algorithms and big data technologies such as Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory. This way, you play a crucial and leading role in developing and managing our data infrastructure, making a difference. You have the freedom to experiment and work with the latest technologies in your field. There is plenty of room for your own ideas, so bring them on!
The multicultural team you will join combines expertise in (geo)data engineering, software development, automated testing, UI/UX design, and environmental management. The team’s working language is English, but Dutch is used within the organization. As a dev team, we meet at least once a week at our Delft office for planning, retrospectives, and refinement. A joint lunch is more the rule than the exception. We also periodically visit our other offices in the Netherlands.
Our way of working is scrum infused with the agile mindset. We primarily focus on developing and delivering long-term solutions that solve problems for an entire industry or market. Currently, we are focusing on accelerating the energy transition, automated ETL processes, and smarter data analyses using the latest techniques. We see this way of working as an excellent fit to maintain and enhance engagement with clients, the organization, and team members. As a team, we set clear goals and results, giving the development team the freedom to decide how best to achieve them.
What are your main responsibilities?
Designing and developing data services: You are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and innovative data services within the Azure Landing Zones.

Collaborating with other specialists: You work closely with other developers, domain experts, and analysts to ensure data becomes actual information.
Improving data quality and efficiency: You understand the data models and protocols in the market, leading to new insights and proposals fueled by domain knowledge.
Experimenting with new technologies: You have the freedom to experiment with the latest technologies, contributing to the development of your field within the dev team and sharing this knowledge by guiding colleagues and mapping out risks or opportunities of proposed solutions.
And of course, the employment conditions are also important. Based on a 40-hour workweek, you will receive:
