Company Description We are looking for a Medior Linux System Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. You will join a team responsible for the deployment, operation, and maintenance of a large‑scale Linux infrastructure, comprising approximately 1,800 physical and virtual servers, primarily running on VMware ESX. The role is hands‑on and operational in nature, within a critical infrastructure environment where reliability, documentation, and collaboration are essential. Job Description Operate, maintain, and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems in a large, mixed physical and virtual server environment Contribute to the automation and standardization of system management using configuration and orchestration tools Perform scripting tasks to support automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency Monitor system health and performance, identify issues, and contribute to root‑cause analysis Work closely with colleagues to document configurations, procedures, and operational practices Participate in an on‑call rotation, on average one week per month Proactively analyze and resolve complex technical situations with a critical and solution‑oriented mindset Qualifications 3–5 years of experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems Experience with automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Foreman, or similar Scripting experience in Python and Shell Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix or equivalent) Solid knowledge of VMware ESX Understanding of network terminology and architecture; knowledge of Cisco ACI is required Understanding of storage technologies, both local (RAID) and remote (SAN, NAS) Proven analytical skills to independently handle complex operational issues Language Requirements Strong proficiency (C2 level) in Dutch or French (spoken and written) Practical knowledge (B1 level) of the second national language Good command of English (B2 level) for reading, writing, and comprehension Soft Skills & Behavioural Competencies Ability to integrate smoothly into an existing infrastructure team Proactive attitude and critical thinking when analyzing problems Strong sense of responsibility and reliability, particularly in on‑call contexts Good documentation habits and willingness to share knowledge with colleagues Professional communication and respectful interaction with management and peers Motivation to commit to the assignment for its full duration
