Description

Do you want to play a key role in the quality of our software products? As a Senior Test Engineer at DHL eCommerce Benelux, you ensure that our systems are robust, reliable, and future-proof. In this role, you combine technical depth with overview and control. You work in an agile environment on business-critical applications used daily by thousands of colleagues and customers.

This is what you are going to do

As a Senior Test Engineer, you are responsible for the entire testing process within complex projects. You design test strategies, manage quality, and guide colleagues through the testing process. You ensure that our operational systems meet high functional and non-functional requirements. Thanks to your efforts, releases are rolled out more stably, faster, and with fewer risks.

Your tasks include, among others:

  • Developing test strategies, test plans, and test cases based on requirements;
  • Executing manual and automated tests (regression, performance, integration/full chain);
  • Identifying quality risks and advising on priorities and Go/No-Go decisions;
  • Guiding colleagues within the test team and contributing to knowledge sharing;
  • Improving the testing process and implementing test automation within CI/CD;
  • Analyzing test results and reporting to stakeholders and management.

You work closely with developers, analysts, engineers, and product owners in a multidisciplinary Scrum team.

What do we work with?

To ensure the quality of our software, we use modern tools and techniques such as:

  • Test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Postman, or similar;
  • CI/CD integration via Azure DevOps or similar pipelines;
  • Java, Scala, and React as the main programming and front-end technologies;
  • Agile testing methodologies and frameworks (Scrum, BDD, TMAP/ISTQB);
  • Version control with Git;
  • Monitoring & logging for regression analysis and quality assurance.

Your new workplace

Your workplace is the DHL eCommerce headquarters in Utrecht, where you are part of the Digital department. You report hierarchically to the Test Manager or Head of Digital. Within your team, you collaborate with other test engineers, developers, and specialists, and interact with colleagues from across the Benelux (the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg). You do not manage teams yourself, but you coach and guide where necessary.

DHL eCommerce is a Great Place to Work – with us, your voice, your experience, and your ambition count.

This is you

You are an experienced tester who works independently, sharply analyzes risks, and knows how to structurally improve test quality. You feel at home in agile teams, think in solutions, and know how to bring others along in a quality-driven approach.

Furthermore, bring:

  • A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering;
  • At least 5-8 years of experience with software testing, part of which in an agile environment;
  • Experience with test automation and CI/CD integration;
  • Knowledge of test design, regression testing, performance and integration testing;
  • Experience with Java and/or SQL in a test context is a plus;
  • ISTQB Foundation or TMAP certification (or willing to obtain it);
  • Proactive attitude, eye for detail, strong communication skills.

What are you going to do?

Take on the challenge and strengthen every release with well-thought-out tests and reliable quality as a Mid-level Quality Assurance Engineer!

What does your workday look like?

As a Mid-level Quality Assurance Engineer, you contribute to the quality of information systems and applications by performing structured testing, identifying risks, and proposing improvements. You contribute to the test approach, execute functional and regression tests, guide users during acceptance testing, and work closely with developers and product owners to ensure that every release is stable, user-friendly, and reliable. Additionally, you contribute to quality within (a part of) an application or chain.

In this versatile role, you are responsible for:

  • Executing tests and monitoring the quality of our information systems by drafting test cases and test plans and identifying deviations;
  • Supporting users during acceptance testing and processing their feedback into concrete points for improvement;
  • Performing functional, regression, and integration tests and learning how to develop and maintain test automation;
  • Analyzing test results, identifying risks, and contributing to the optimization of test processes within the development cycle;
  • Documenting findings and actively sharing knowledge within the QA team;
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and product owners and participate in Agile/Scrum sessions.

Who are you?

  • You possess a higher professional education (HBO) working and thinking level;
  • You have two to seven years of relevant work experience;
  • Knowledge of test methodologies such as ISTQB, TMap, or similar is an advantage;
  • Experience with tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Tricentis Tosca is a plus;
  • Experience with systems such as Commercetools, Contentful, Outsystems, or Native App is a plus.
