Job description
The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective/efficient running of our flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and our wider business. You will be joining a MEICA team helping to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of our crucial assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment; which will have an increasingly important role as we face the challenge of global climate change. You will be working closely with external contractors to develop a world class asset management organisation.
The role will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards. It will also be responsible for monitoring the quality and advising on the requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements, spreading across the geographic areas covering a diverse range of assets.

The team
Joining our South East MEICA Team of mixed disciplines you will report to the MEICA Team Leader, acting as technical leader on MEICA activity and will participate in our response to flood incidents. You will provide technical mechanical support and direction to other team members and be responsible for liaising with a wide range of business partners and leading on actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.

Experience/skills required

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering related statutory legislation, British and European standards.
  • Experience in taking a lead role in safety investigations, identifying and disseminating learning to bring about improvements in engineering and behavioural safety.
  • Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, Reliability engineering and process improvement, Technical Leadership, writing and reviewing technical specifications
  • Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate Mechanical discipline.
  • Full UK Driving Licence is ESSENTIAL

Question- In this role the advisor acts as internal consultant to the EA partners we work with, we provide expert advice aligned to standards and regulations accordingly. Can you explain where you have had responsibility for the generation of technical documentation to support a multi-discipline project? How was this linked to any regulatory requirements if any and what challenges have you dealt with in the creation and approval of said documents?
