Description BQC FOUNDRY JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: MELT & DECK COORDINATOR Employment Status: FULL TIME FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPT Department: CASTINGS OPERATION Position Reports To: CASTINGS OPERATION LEADER Summary Description: The Melt & Pour Coordinator is a hands-on role responsible for coordinating daily melt and pouring operations to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met. This position works directly on the production floor. The Coordinator is responsible for enforcing procedures, addressing employee performance and behavior, and maintaining accountability among team members while performing essential melt and pouring duties. Essential Functions: Ensure completion of all daily melt and pouring tasks. Coordinate and support pouring and melt operations to meet production needs. Verify metal meets required specifications prior to use. Monitor melt back process to ensure workload demands are met. Perform periodic checks on castings to ensure quality and reduce scrap. Ensure all non-conforming scrap is re-melted daily. Oversee proper use and care of melt equipment, furnaces, and tools. Transport molten metal safely from furnace to pouring area. Pour molten metal into molds at proper rate and temperature. Follow molding schedules and verify shop card instructions (temperature, filters, part numbers, etc.). Communicate with furnace tender to ensure metal availability aligns with production needs. Identify and report unfavorable pouring conditions (run-outs, short pours, incorrect sequencing, etc.). Remove impurities from molten metal and dispose of materials properly. Operate robotic pouring systems as required. Complete pouring logs accurately and consistently. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Report equipment issues or maintenance needs promptly. Work closely with the Castings Operation Lead to execute daily production goals. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Operate forklift as necessary Perform chemistry checks as needed using the spectrometer. Perform furnace and ladle repair as trained. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned. Coordination & Accountability Responsibilities: Provide direction and support to team members on the floor. Ensure employees are following procedures, shop cards, and safety requirements. Address performance, attendance, or behavior issues in real time. Issue verbal warnings and document incidents; escalate for further discipline as needed. Maintain a firm, consistent, and professional approach when enforcing expectations. Communicate effectively with leadership regarding team performance and concerns. Skills or Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing or foundry environment. Forklift Certification a plus Ability to work in high-temperature and physically demanding environments. Demonstrated ability to hold employees accountable and address issues directly.
