Description Position Title: Member Communications Coordinator Department: Communications Reports to: Manager of Marketing & Communications Supervision Received: Limited supervision Supervision Exercised: Supervises individual contributors and processes FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary The Member Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing Bluebonnet’s outage communication program and leading all proactive member messaging efforts regarding operations. This role supervises the member communications team and ensures timely, accurate and strategic communications across all platforms. The Coordinator collaborates closely with Public Affairs, Member Services and Operations teams to support member satisfaction and uphold Bluebonnet’s communications and operational goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead, manage and improve the outage communication program, including real-time updates, planned maintenance messaging and alerts. Oversee all member communications during outages and operational events, ensuring clarity, accuracy and alignment with goals. Manage proactive member communication initiatives across text, email, social media and web platforms. Supervise, train and coach the member communications team; manage staffing schedules and on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 coverage. Provide daily direction, performance feedback and accountability for team execution of communication protocols. Collaborate with Communications, Public Affairs, Member Services and Operations to integrate technical updates into member-facing messaging. Monitor outage reports and coordinate with internal teams to provide accurate restoration timelines and minimize member impact. Lead member communications during storm operations and after-hours events, including real-time updates, coordination with internal teams and direct member engagement. Compile and analyze data on outages, member inquiries, and communication effectiveness; generate reports to inform strategy and improve messaging. Contribute to content creation for internal and external audiences by writing and editing copy for marketing campaigns, social media, Bluebonnet's pages in Texas Co-Op Power magazine, website, and other communication projects across all media channels. Develop proactive and reactive messaging for members for evolving scenarios. Design, deliver and improve training for the member communications team on protocols, standards and service expectations. Propose and implement strategies to improve communication efficiency and team performance. Tools and Equipment Used: Office equipment including computer, printer, copier, etc. May be required to drive a cooperative vehicle. According to established business need, must maintain a mobile phone and appropriate communications plan. Physical Demands: Requires repetitive motion of hands and fingers such as dialing and keyboarding. Light lifting of up to 10 pounds. Work Environment: Typical office environment with required presence at Bluebonnet headquarters in Bastrop and the Engineering building in Giddings to ensure proximity to the Control Center. Be adaptable to a change in offices and environment and have the necessary technology available if required. Hours are consistent with but not limited to normal business operations as well as employee and member requirements. Working emergency call duty due to storms or assistance as needed by Communications, Member Services, the Control Center or Emergency Response Plan Coordinator. Attendance and participation at evening and weekend meetings, conferences, workshops and other professional meetings including overnight travel may be required. Must live and be able to report to an office location within 15 minutes of the Bluebonnet service territory. Requirements Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Experience managing teams or cross-functional projects. Experience in communications, member/customer services preferred. Utility industry experience preferred. Licensing and Certification: Valid Texas driver's license. Must obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, AED and Blood-borne pathogens. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including audience attunement. Expert level skills at translating technical terms into easily understood concepts. Expert in efficient communication without sacrificing warmth and familiarity. Strong leadership and team-building capabilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and communication platforms. Familiarity with Bluebonnet’s member base and operational structure is a plus.
