POSITION SUMMARY

The Member Safety Officer plays a key role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all Members, guests, and staff of Hollyburn Country Club. Reporting to the Director of Hospitality, this position is responsible for safeguarding the Club’s facilities, enforcing house rules, monitoring activities, and responding effectively to incidents. The ideal candidate is professional, proactive, and adaptable, with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to exceptional service while upholding safety standards.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • BST Level 1 (Basic Security Training) certification (required)
  • Previous experience in security, safety, or customer service in a hospitality or recreational environment is an asset.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick, effective decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage conflict and diffuse tense situations calmly and respectfully.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Club (location not easily accessible by public transit).
  • Candidates must agree to complete a Police Information Check (fully reimbursed upon hire).
Responsibilities

Safety & Security Monitoring – 30%

  • Conduct regular patrols (indoor and outdoor) to ensure the safety and security of Members, guests, staff, and Club property.
  • Monitor Club activities to identify, report, and address safety concerns or potential hazards.
  • Enforce Club policies and house rules in a professional and respectful manner.

Incident Response & Reporting – 30%

  • Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and disturbances, using sound judgment to de-escalate situations.
  • Involve senior staff or external authorities when appropriate.
  • Document all incidents and relevant observations in detailed end-of-shift reports for Management.

Risk Management – 20%

  • Identify and address potential safety and security risks, taking proactive steps to prevent incidents.
  • Maintain awareness of high-traffic and high-risk areas, especially during peak usage times.

Member & Staff Interaction – 20%

  • Provide assistance, directions, or general support to Members, guests, and staff as needed.
  • Foster a friendly, approachable, and professional presence throughout the Club.
