Description The Member Service Representative is the face of our organization and holds an essential role in delivering on our mission by providing outstanding member experiences. Responsible for serving as a financial consultant to members, conducting member financial profiles, identifying member needs, cross-selling, and up-selling. Attracts, expands, and retains member relationships and is responsible for contributing to the financial well-being of our members. Accountable for lobby management and in-branch member service interactions and performs a wide range of sales/transactional duties upholding quality, service, and brand standards. Works with the Branch Manager and Assistant Manager to achieve goals of deposit/loan growth, business relationship growth, and personal membership growth. The MSR also maintains current knowledge of competitor products, services, and current promotions. Promptly, accurately and efficiently process member financial transactions including but not limited to: deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, cash advances, loan payments, transfers, wire transfers, negotiable instruments, and necessary general ledger postings according to policies, procedures, and standards. Performs account maintenance to include but not limited to address changes, phone numbers, travel advisories, diary memos, etc. According to policies, procedures, and standards, respond to member inquiries and requests for account information such as loan payoffs, balances, check orders, maturity dates, payment history, late fees, rates, etc. Opens new accounts, analyzes credit bureau reports; interviews members in person or by telephone to identify financial needs and sales opportunities. Initiates computer-based credit applications; analyzes credit scores and makes routine business decisions; sells and cross-sells financial products and services to members; and answers member inquiries about products and financial services. Performance Measurements: 1. Manage day-to-day duties for the branch teller line or platform staff, including managing the day's schedule, meeting referral goals, coaching, developing, and overseeing operational standards. 2. Achieve monthly/annual individual sales and member service goals in order to contribute to the branch and organizational goals. 3. Initiate conversations to uncover member needs, and have the ability to define and offer solutions to resolve problems. Uses knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources. 4. Assists members with preparing and compiling new member applications and information to open all account types. 5. Opens/processes new member accounts, loan applications, and referrals. Honors PROMISE values to members, ensures member satisfaction, and proactively offers additional products/services. 6. Analyze member credit reports and make financial recommendations to members to enhance their financial well-being. 7. Serves as an aid to the Branch and Assistant Manager with directing and controlling the operational activities of the branch. Including but not limited to: performing branch settlement, balancing of checks, vault cash, card stock, and daily balancing, etc. 8. Maintain knowledge and understanding of all Credit Union products and services and ability to communicate key features and benefits to members. 9. Accurately enter and complete transactions, new accounts, maintenance, and loans. 10. Completes all required quarterly/annual product knowledge exams and mandatory training. Participates in all training/meetings. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and adheres to security and internal control procedures. 11. Maintains, balances, and verifies cash drawer denominations and totals throughout and at the end of a shift. 12. Researches and tries to resolve discrepancies. Reports any discrepancies to the manager or appointed staff member on duty. Completes required teller reports and end-of-shift work. Qualifications: One to three years of similar or related experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. A high school education or GED. Demonstrated abilities related to sales and achievement of sales Goals. Proven ability and willingness to identify needs and sell appropriate products. Ability to interact with others positively, both in person and by phone. Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data and update member financial records via computer terminal. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Basic level experience with computer navigation, Previous experience with financial institutions. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate starting at $21.00, plus monthly incentives, depending on experience, education and qualifications
