The Summit Area YMCA is seeking tech-savvy, customer-focused Member Service Representatives to support both our Summit and Berkeley Heights branches. As the welcoming face of the Y, you’ll help members check in, register for programs, and access information about everything from swim lessons to wellness classes. You’ll work in a fast-paced, people-centered environment where every interaction matters. The Member Services Representative delivers exceptional customer service to inquiring members, guests, and program participants, helps create a friendly and welcoming environment by greeting all who enter the Y, responds to general questions and assists with requests for assistance with membership changes or transactions, and contributes to membership sales by giving tours, promoting memberships, providing information about programs, events and more. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist members and guests in a friendly, professional manner. Open the facility promptly and ensure readiness for operations. Process membership check-ins, registrations, and payments accurately. Maintain knowledge of YMCA programs, services, and policies. Support facility cleanliness and safety procedures. Provide exceptional customer service and promote a positive member experience Salary & Benefits: The salary for this position starts at $17.00/ hour, and is based on experience. Member Service staff are required to be scheduled for at least 2 shifts per week. These two shifts must include one weekend shift but may include 2 weekend shifts if needed and desired. Varies shifts are currently available; including weekdays between 4:45am -9:30pm and weekends till 7:00pm. The Summit Area YMCA offers generous employee benefits. Requirements Qualifications: Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills Strong computer skills Ability to handle financial transactions Previous customer service, hospitality, sales, or related experience Must be dependable, punctual, and comfortable working independently in the early morning hours. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Customer service or front desk experience preferred. Must be able to travel between both YMCA branches. CPR/AED certification (training provided if not currently certified).
