Description Location: Hybrid - based in Salt Lake City About The Tribune The Salt Lake Tribune has been Utah's independent voice since 1871. In 2019, we became the first legacy U.S. newspaper to transition to nonprofit status, helping to lead a national movement toward sustainable local journalism. In spring of 2026 we will remove our subscription paywall and move to a voluntary donation-based membership. To support this shift, we are expanding our development team. The Role The Membership Manager is a new senior position in the development team. You will oversee and project manage all aspects of the new membership program launching in spring of 2026, including benefits, fundraising campaigns, stewardship, customer service and events. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, organized professional who is passionate about community impact and the future of independent journalism. What You'll Do Member Relations Serve as the primary contact for members and small dollar donors (with support from customer service and other members of the development team), responding promptly and professionally Manage the fulfillment of member benefits, including liaising with The Tribune’s advertising team and third-party vendors Develop and manage stewardship plans Campaigns & Communications Project manage small-dollar and membership campaigns, including list creation, deadlines, print/mail coordination Assist in writing campaign communications Coordinate campaigns across divisions Member Acquisition & Retention Working with The Tribune’s Director of Marketing and Director of Analytics, develop and execute on plans to retain and acquire members Analyze member and reader data and incorporate into all fundraising and retention efforts Events Help plan and produce monthly member events - occasional nights/weekends required Compensation & Benefits Expected salary range of $85,000 - $89,000 based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer match Paid time off, sick leave, and parental leave Employer-paid life insurance, short-term & long-term disability Flexible hours and hybrid work options Cellphone stipend + mileage reimbursement Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility for qualified employees Why Join Us This role is at the heart of building a sustainable future for local journalism in Utah. Requirements What We’re Looking For Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Strong writing and communication skills Proficiency with Google Suite and Excel Comfortable attending events and speaking with donors/prospects Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Proficiency with donor databases and CRMs Experience with campaign/project management and project management software Marketing and presentation skills (deck creation, donor communications) Proven experience and progressively increasing responsibility in project management and nonprofit fundraising Experience managing membership programs
