POSITION SCOPE

The Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC is the largest economic development, chamber of commerce, and business advocacy organization in southern Colorado. We work with industry leaders, educational institutions, military personnel, government, and community agencies and a wide array of community professionals dedicated to developing economic prosperity for our region.
A manager manages projects, programs, and/or people with supervision and some autonomy. The Membership Sales, Engagement, and Events Manager will play a key role in driving revenue growth by identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, building strong relationships with existing members, following up with potential members, and promoting the benefits of investing in Colorado Springs as a member of Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC.
We are seeking a proactive and charismatic communicator, with an ability to read people and situations effectively. Outgoing, empathetic, and intuitive, this person will need to be successful in a sales type role based on relationships as well as back-office details and planning. This person possesses a poised, influential communication style, with the ability to persuade people and build value within the membership while supporting the general team in event planning and membership support.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring their needs are met and addressing any concerns or issues in a timely manner. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing personalized service and support throughout the sales process.
  • Data Base Management: Update and input data concurrent with outreach and updates regarding new prospects, retention, and events.
  • AR Collections: Confirm initial delivery of invoices for members at all tiers and follow up with members throughout each month to collect both timely and past-due payments. Generate and/or resend invoices and process write-offs or dropped memberships as needed. Conduct restorative conversations or make efforts to collect feedback from dropped members.
  • Event Planning: Plans and executes all Membership Networking Events including In the Mix Luncheons, Breakfast & Business Cards, Business After Hours, and Ribbon Cuttings while also providing occasional resource support to the Special Events Manager for signature events as needed. Negotiates pricing of events to match of Membership Events Budget.
  • Business Development: Identify, prospect, and cultivate new business opportunities with companies looking to expand or relocate to the Colorado Springs region. This includes outbound phone calls, attending industry events, and leveraging existing networks to generate leads.
  • Committee Management: Facilitate one of the two membership committees (SBAC or Voyagers), working closing with committee Chair and VP of Membership on any committee events, content creation, communication, and/or committee meetings.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic sales plans with the team to achieve revenue targets and maximize growth opportunities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align sales efforts with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare and present compelling proposals, presentations, and sales collateral to prospective clients, and current members. Customize solutions to meet the specific needs and requirements of each client. This may include In the Mix Content, Prospective Member presentation, or any visuals for membership events.
  • Networking and Outreach: Represent the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC at networking events to promote the organization and establish connections within the business community. Act as a brand ambassador, effectively communicating the mission and value of the organization to external stakeholders.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Events coordination or project coordination experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and compellingly.
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets, proven customer service and follow-up.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Springs region and familiarity with local business community preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field preferred. Related experience accepted.
  • Two years minimum work experience, especially related to business and events.
