Description The Seville, a brand-new senior living community that opened its doors in September 2024, is seeking a passionate and experienced Assisted Living and Memory Care Director to lead our 24-unit memory care neighborhood within our 87-unit community. As a cornerstone of our care team, the ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, deep compassion, and clinical expertise—RCFE preferred—to support residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. This is a unique opportunity to shape a high-quality program from the ground up in a thoughtfully designed, purpose-built environment. Position Title: Memory Care Director Department: Memory Care Exempt Status: Salary / Exempt Supervisor: Executive Director GENERAL SUMMARY: The Memory Care Director is directly responsible for the initial and continual development and monitoring of the memory care program. The Memory Care Director will achieve and maintain the highest quality of life for each resident with a diagnosis of a memory care disease, overseeing the holistic, therapeutic, person-centered care. RCFE Preferred. PRINCIPLE DUTIES: Essential Job Duties: (Other duties will be assigned as needed) Must be willing and able to do the following: • Responsibly manages and supervises staff by scheduling, assignment, direction, performance review (including input on pay adjustments), hiring and discipline consistent with company policy, and providing support, direction, feedback, and training for such staff. • Lead, direct, and assist staff with understanding care and encourage learning by modeling the proper approaches and communication techniques. • Conduct the new-hire and on-going dementia in-service for all staff and maintain the necessary records to reflect completion of training. • Delegate program facilitation responsibilities to others as needed. • Evaluate the program utilizing quality enhancement tools and customer feedback. • Improve the program through problem solving, program development, and refinement. • Conduct individual resident history, preferences assessments, and develop individualized service and program plans. • Support and actively participate in the program's census building initiatives. • Facilitate a pro-active problem-solving approach to challenging resident behaviors. • Partner with the Director of Nursing in resolving issues related to resident care within the community. • Work together with the Director of Nursing in scheduling and supervising staff; available to cover staffing when needed in memory care unit. • May perform other duties as assigned. • Ability to facilitate family and caregiver support programs. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: · Current Certified Dementia Practitioner certificate is required, or obtained within designated time period, along with three or more years’ experience in caring for people with dementia and in developing and facilitating activity programs, as a manager with a specialized dementia program. · Preferred qualifications include an Associates or Bachelor’s degree or four-year degree in Recreational Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Education, Social Services or equivalent, and be a Licensed Vocational or Registered nurse. · Must have at least one year experience working in a similar role with responsibilities related to program operations for memory care/dementia residents. · Ability to recognize and communicate problems appropriately. · Ability to communicate proficiently in English both verbally and in writing. · Ability to relate to residents, their families, employees at all levels in the organization, vendors, providers, and the public appropriately. · Ability to maintain accurate records and provide information as requested and required. · Ability to work flexible hours to meet requirements of the job, including weekends and evenings, as well as be on call. · Compliant with Driver’s Selection Process requirements. LVN and RCFE preferred but not required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: · Ability to move throughout the facility promptly, especially in emergency situations · Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and up to 150 lbs. with the assistance of one. · Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach · Must be able to push and pull up to 150 lbs in a wheelchair · Good visual and hearing acuity required · Good verbal communication skills required · Must be able to walk or stand for up to 80% of the workday · Must be free of communicable disease; may be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV · May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors

Responsibilities

The Memory Care Director is responsible for the development, monitoring, and holistic management of a 24-unit memory care program. This includes supervising staff, conducting dementia in-services, and creating individualized service plans for residents.
