Case coordination and communication across an inter-professional team is an integral component of the role. Additionally, the Mental Health and Addiction Counsellor is responsible for communicating with referral agencies, offering support and guidance to clients and their families. Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 annually Duties and Responsibilities: * Competently manages clients with various substance use disorders and concurrent issues using a trauma-informed approach from a 12-step framework. * Works therapeutically with diverse client population through individual and group therapy, process groups, individual and family therapy and assessment, as required. * Delivers psychoeducational sessions to clients, as well as to public audiences and external groups as needed. * Identifies treatment issues and goals with clients, coordinating across broader clinical teams when appropriate. * Collaborates in the development, implementation and follow-up of the client care plan and discharge plans (i.e. continuing care plan). * Completes detailed documentation and charting appropriately. Prepares reports or correspondence in a timely manner. * Case management of client caseload. * Participates in regular meetings and consultation meetings of teams – makes recommendations based on the client’s progress * Liaises with referral sources, such as aftercare providers, EAP representatives, parole and probation officers, verbally, electronically and/or in writing on a regular basis and documents same. * Engages in personal professional development, maintains appropriate professional associations, and provides current documentation to the Human Resources Department. * Acts as a resource person for practicum students and other professionals as assigned * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Master’s degree in counselling-psychology, social work, or related field. * Minimum three-five years of clinical experience * Professional experience with individuals experiencing concurrent disorders, such as mood and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, acute stress disorders, and PTSD. * Current registration with a regulated professional College (i.e., college of Social Workers, Canadian Certified Counsellor, etc.) * CBT and DBT certification considered an asset * Knowledge of the DSM-V, including substance use disorders.
