MENTAL HEALTH & COURT OF PROTECTION PARALEGAL/TRAINEE LONDON N4
Friendly niche firm doing predominantly publicly funded mental health, capacity and related work are looking for someone equipped to take on casework and responsibility. This is an exciting opportunity to work an interesting and important area of law and we would invest in your training and progression (including immediately working towards membership of the Law Society’s Mental Health Accreditation Panel).
Key requirements are:
· An interest in / aptitude for advocacy (of all types and levels)
· The ability to produce clear, well written and persuasive written communications
· Good problem solving skills
· The capacity to quickly develop a confident grasp of relevant law and guidance
· A flexible and questioning outlook.
Previous experience or knowledge of social care and human rights law or advocacy would be an advantage
The position would suit either an BVE or LPC/ SQE graduate (or possibly other relevant qualifications) and in the case of an LPC graduate we would expect to offer you an early training contract subject to accreditation status (where pre-contract experience would count against the latter).
The firm is rated by the legal aid agency as category 1 (excellent) in mental health law and has a wealth of experience in this and related fields and is able to provide good training and support together with a reasonable life/work balance.
The starting salary would be based on the London Living Wage and this would be reviewed with a view to increase at regular intervals.
