REQUIREMENTS:
· Previous experience as a chef or cook, ideally in a care or healthcare setting.
· Awareness of mental health challenges and the importance of nutrition in mental wellbeing.
· Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (required).
· Knowledge of special diets, allergens, and texture modification.
· Ability to work under pressure in a regulated environment.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach.
· Plan and prepare nutritious meals in accordance with residents’ dietary needs (e.g. low salt, diabetic, vegetarian, texture-modified diets).
· Cater for individuals with mental health conditions, being sensitive to preferences and behaviours around food.
· Work closely with clinical and support staff to ensure dietary requirements and meal schedules are followed.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment in line with food safety and infection control policies.
· Manage stock control and food ordering to ensure meals are prepared fresh and within budget.
· Adhere to Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations (e.g. HACCP, COSHH).
· Engage positively with residents during meal service, promoting a supportive and respectful environment.
· Complete necessary documentation and kitchen records, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and allergy lists.
