Description

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under the direction of the Clinical Director, this position will provide clinical mental health support, education, behavioural consultation, mental health assessments, and evidence-based treatment to individual children or family within the Kidthink clinic and community settings. This position will work with a multi-disciplinary team that provides outreach, case management and mental health services to children and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy.
· Licensed/registered with their respective licensing/regulatory body.
· Minimum of 2-3 years of recent and relevant experience in child, adolescent, and family mental health, including expertise in managing ADHD, ASD, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders.
· Training and demonstrated skill in several of the following areas: clinical assessment, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, play therapy and systems intervention.
· Exceptional knowledge and understanding of counselling skills and clinical practice as it relates to children and their families.
· Knowledge of child and adolescent development and mental health issues in childhood and adolescence
· Knowledge of provincial mental health community resources and services.
· Knowledge and awareness of cultural and socio-economic factors that inform service provision.
· Ability and experience in interpretation of diagnostic assessments.
· Demonstrated proficiency in the community-based support approach.
· Preference will be given to those with certification in, or in the process of completing CBT, play therapy, theraplay or art therapy.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Proven skill in intake and assessment.
· Strong interpersonal and communication aptitudes, with a proven track record of establishing effective collaborations.
· Willingness to maintaining knowledge, skills and abilities by keeping up to date regarding professional standards through reviewing current literature, attending workshops/seminars, networking and consultation with colleagues.
· Openness to innovative techniques and best practices.
· Emphasis on team collaboration and strong team work ethic.

· Conducts comprehensive mental health assessments.

· Collaborates with family, caregivers, and community resources to implement interventions related to behaviour, social skills, emotion regulation, or anxiety disorders.
· Participates in all aspects of the care continuum and the child’s mental health pathway.
· In various community settings facilitates community workshops centred on mental health and resiliency building.
· Collaborates with colleagues to develop and enhance services, including the creation of group therapy programs, educational workshops, and other therapeutic interventions.
· Collaborates with other disciplines.
· Maintain accurate records.
