MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN

Wage: $70,000 - $80,000 Annual Salary, dependent upon experience
Living Out Allowance: Approximately $10,400 Annually
Benefits: Paid sick days for yourself and family, 4 weeks of vacation, comprehensive benefits package, 5.5% employer matched pension
We offer time off in-lieu to acknowledge time spent at any Land -Based Healing Camp.
Hours: Full-Time, 1 week in (Fort Ware community) – 1 week out (PG Office)
(Flexibility required to accommodate member needs, and may include evenings and weekends)
Location: Kwadacha Community (Fort Ware), or willingness to travel to community every other week

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree in social sciences, plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience in a mental health and substance use setting.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search, and reference checks
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clear Driver’s Abstract

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Health and Wellness, the Mental Health Clinician will operate as part of a multi-disciplinary team, which provides holistic services to Indigenous Peoples living in Kwadacha, BC. The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for comprehensive mental health and addictions services to children, youth, adults, and families within the community. Services include assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, harm reduction strategies, crisis intervention, and referrals.

  • Conduct client-centered mental health and substance use assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment and recovery plans.
  • Deliver short-term and long-term counselling services, including crisis intervention.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups and workshops focused on mental wellness and harm reduction.
  • Work collaboratively with community health teams, Elders, and leadership, ensuring services are culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strength-based.
  • Support community-led initiatives that promote mental health awareness and stigma reduction.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential clinical documentation with professional standards.
  • Participate in case conferencing, team meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Establish healthy boundaries with community members and act as a role model for healthy living.
