Description Opportunity to join Health and Wellness team by providing mental health care in support of educational and vocational goals of young people, ages 16-24. Intervention at individual, team and organizational levels. The Center Mental Health Consultant (CMHC) manages and develops programs to support center-wide goals and interacts with students and staff, providing direction for our mental health program. Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30am-4:00pm Duties: Participates in the Center’s applicant file review team to review and assess applicant’s mental health, behavior and educational information (e.g. IEP, 504 plan); conducts interviews to determine if center can provide health care needs of individual applicants. (weekly) Provides mental health assessments and evaluations for students as well as short-term therapy with mental health checks as needed. (weekly) Conducts mental health evaluations in emergencies, refers students to Mobile Crisis or psychiatric care, is available for urgent mental health consultations to Health and Wellness Manager. (daily) Does case management for students with off center mental health providers. (weekly) Documents all client contact, consultations with staff, evaluations and group activities accurately and timely in accordance with HIPPA laws. (daily) Provides documentation and referrals of students who are recommended for separation from the program due to mental health reasons, making recommendations to Center Director. (as needed) Discusses accommodations with entering students who have documented mental health conditions: participates in Disability Accommodation Committee. (weekly) Conducts medication reviews for students on long-term prescribed psychotropic medications with the center MD. (monthly) Attends Center Director/CMHC meetings (monthly) and Guidance Counselor meetings (weekly). Supports Health and Wellness staff by consulting with Alcohol and Drug Counselor, being a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team, adding to Healthy Eating and Active Life Styles promotions. Trains new staff in on-boarding orientations on mental health needs of our students, how to make a mental health referral and trauma informed care. (monthly) Facilitates staff training on adolescent development topics (quarterly). Participates in center-wide mental health events (yearly). Requirements Qualifications: Active, unrestricted license to practice as an independent mental health practitioner in California, without supervision. Minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed independent practitioner providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents and young adults (ages 16–24).
