Description
  • 28-35 hours/week, generally Monday to Friday, but some weekends/evenings may be required.
  • 1 year contract with the possibility of renewal.
  • Pay range begins at $35 per hour.
  • Based primarily out of the Yarmouth office, however travel within the tri-counties is required. (mileage is compensated)
  • Please note: This is a front-line, emotionally demanding role in a dynamic and sometimes high-stress environment.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION

  • BSW from a CASWE-accredited program
  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Training in suicide risk assessment and screening tools

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience supporting clients with mental health, substance use, or trauma
  • Community-based or feminist practice experience an asset
  • Lived experience of recovery or system navigation is welcomed

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector & Child Abuse Registry Screenings
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Multilingualism an asset
Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed, client-centered counselling to individuals and groups
  • Offer support for mild-to-moderate mental health or substance use concerns (tier one and two)
  • Conduct screening, risk assessments, referrals, and case coordination
  • Deliver community workshops and outreach programming
  • Collaborate with support staff and external service providers
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and documentation
  • Uphold feminist, harm reduction, and culturally responsive practices
