Abbotts Martin Solicitors are a successful legal practice, that pride themselves on excellence. An opportunity has arisen for a mental health caseworker/paralegal to join our Mental Health team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who feels confident to handle their own case load from a relatively early stage. You will be running files from start to finish and representing clients on 1:1 basis to assist you with managing your own case load, you will be provided with the necessary training, and you will be allocated a supervisor to assist you..
The role will be supporting the team of fee earners and support staff which will involve:
Meeting with clients in hospital or other care settings
Drafting documents under supervision
Preparing cases for hearings
Attending meetings and taking notes
Taking part in business development and networking events
Carrying out administrative and typing duties as necessary
Preparing witness statements
Collecting medical documents
Opening, closing and archiving files
Managing the switchboard, fielding calls and taking new enquiries
The successful candidate will: Have previous experience ideally within Mental Health Law or have studied this area of law Knowledge of mental health law, including the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act advantageous
Experience in MS Word, Excel and Outlook Experience using case management systems advantageous Excellent written and oral communication skills. Possessing a good telephone manner, accuracy and attention to detail Must work well as part of a team and possess a pro-active team work approach. The candidate will also be self-motivated, flexible and able to demonstrate a high level of organisational skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £23,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
