Shifts: Day Shift (Afternoons and On-Call as required)
Pay Band/Wage Range: $20.00 - $29.00 BOE

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mobile Crisis Practitioner is responsible for direct client service in a 24/7 rotation in the Range Mental Health Center mobile crisis program, providing highly effective crisis intervention and support services in full alignment with our mission to be the Provider of Choice for the people we serve.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• A philosophical approach consistent with Range Mental Health Center
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation
• Flexibility to meet demands in a fluid and changing environment
• Sufficient command of the English language to be able to effectively communicate in writing with co-workers, the people we support and outside parties via paper and electronic means
• Sufficient command of the English language to be able to effectively communicate verbally with co-workers, the people we support, and outside parties in person and via telephone
• Ability to be flexible, to work as a team member, and to interact effectively with the people we support, staff and other professionals
• Good understanding of local and state mental health systems
• Strong time management ability
• Ability to handle significant daily stress

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Qualify as a Mental Health Practitioner as defined by the Minnesota Dept of Human Services. (4-year human service degree plus 2000 hours supervised mental health experience, or a master’s degree in human services, or 4,000 hours supervised mental health experience)
• A mental health practitioner for a child must have training working with children.
• A mental health practitioner for an adult member must have training working with adults

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Adequate level of vision to use computer terminal.
• Sufficient hearing to accurately record information received verbally.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be able to maintain a Minnesota driver’s license and auto insurance

• In crisis response engage in assessment, provide recommendations, identify referral sources, and provide follow-up to ensure high quality client service
• Complete medical record documentation in a timely fashion
• Develop and update treatment plans
• Coordinate and refer services as needed for the people we support to reach to maintain their optimal level of functioning
• Act as an advocate for the people we support; as needed assist them in obtaining and maintaining entitlements or other benefits
• Provide crisis assistance as needed to clients being served in the community by the Mobile Crisis Team
• Observe and assess people and respond and manage a crisis
• Complete prior authorizations as needed for services; coordinate with the RMHC referral and eligibility teams for assistance as needed
• Instruct, assist, enable recipients to develop and enhance stability, competencies, personal/emotional adjustments and independent living activities, and community skills
• Attend and actively participate in required employee meetings, multidisciplinary meetings, and training
• Provide program transportation as needed
• Willingness and ability to be trained in cultural competencies as needed
• Properly report all instances of suspected abuse or neglect to the program manager and also follow requirements for mandated reporting
• Maintain and report on hours of training as per RMHC policy / procedure; practitioner must meet minimum training thresholds per program license and rules as established by the State of Minnesota
• Follow all policies and procedures and seek answers to questions via communication with direct supervisor or program director
• Comply with all pertinent regulatory and statutory requirements
• All other duties as assigned.
