Description

ABOUT US

Venture-People is an award-winning organisation, formed from our shared ambition to provide high-quality and psychologically informed support.
We provide bespoke, community-based support to individuals with complex needs; including a mental health diagnosis, neurodiversity, or those who may have endured trauma.
The people we support may have spent an extended period in hospital or another setting, therefore we utilise a person-centred approach; empowering individuals to become as independent as possible within their own homes

JOB OPPORTUNITY

Venture-People offer outreach support and housing solutions to individuals with a mental health need, maximising their independence with the right support at the right time. We work in a person-centred and recovery-focused approach, steeped in therapeutic optimism.
We are looking for Support Workers who will make up a growing team within the Adur area of West Sussex, covering Shoreham-by-Sea, Lancing, and Portslade.
Your role will be delivering quality support that enables people to achieve their outcomes by using and developing person-centred support plans. You will be able to manage risks and vulnerabilities whilst promoting social inclusion and maximising the opportunities for the people you support.
This Mental Health Support Worker role would suit candidates with experience as a Recovery Worker or Support Worker or an enthusiasm for developing their skills in mental health, neurodiversity, and outreach support.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience, ideally Mental Health/LD/Neurodiverse support.
  • Ability to positively address and challenge inappropriate or negative behaviours and attitudes.
  • Experience of using therapeutic de-escalation and/or crisis intervention techniques.
  • Able to respond to changes in an individual’s needs and meet deadlines.
  • To encourage and manage participation and involvement from the people we support.
  • Computer literate, with confidence in using all Microsoft office programmes

DESIRED SKILLS:

It would be desirable for you to have had experience supporting a person(s) with a mental health condition and within community-based services.
Full training will be provided so if you feel you can embed our values and offer quality support to enable people to achieve their goals, we want to hear from you!
