Our model brings together peadiatricians, psychiatrists, and allied health professionals to provide comprehensive, collaborative care for young clients and their families.
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Mental Health Social Worker join our East Melbourne clinic. The role entails working closely with individuals who have neurodiverse conditions, developmental delays or mental health difficulties. You will collaborate with our team of psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists to deliver essential skills and strategies, guided by our specialist team of pediatricians and psychiatrists. By providing comprehensive therapy services in both community and clinical environments, you will enhance independence and improve the quality of life for these clients and their families. Additionally, you will work with families, educators, and children to deliver holistic, wrap-around care.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking motivated and empathetic Mental Health Social Worker with:
- Over 2 years of proven experience working with individuals within the mental health space.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a commitment to evidence-based practice
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Comfortable and able to provide hybrid service, within the clinic and via online platforms
- Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate the changing needs of the individuals you support
- Can work independently while also flourishing as part of a supportive team.
- A passion for supporting individuals and families to improve their overall mental health well-being
REQUIREMENTS:
- Tertiary degree in social work or a related field.
- Holds registration with AASW.
- Is eligible for Medicare registration.
- Experience in a similar role or demonstrated ability to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
- NDIS workers screening test, National Police Check, Working with Children Check (WWC).
- Right to Work in Australia (e.g., Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Visa holder with full working rights).
Responsibilities:
- Mental Health Psychotherapy and Interventions: Conduct comprehensive psychotherapy sessions, implement skill-building/ mental health support programs to provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients with diverse mental health needs.
- Implement therapeutic outcomes: Help clients achieve emotional stability, manage stress, anxiety, and depression, and promote overall mental well-being. Working with individuals to build resilience and provide coping strategies, assist in developing healthy relationships, and empower individuals to take control of their lives and make informed decisions.
- Family Support: Work with parents and caregivers or to identify emotional, social, or physical obstacles, and gain insight into family dynamics and the home environment.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Early Childhood Education Specialists, Adult Psychiatrists, Psychologist, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Behavioural Therapy Assistants to deliver an integrated approach tailored to each individual’s specific goals. Engage in case conferences and team meetings to discuss progress and outcomes.
- Client Advocacy: Advocate for clients and connect them with community resources and support services.
- Documentation: Deliver timely and accurate documentation of care, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Deliver evidence-based therapy interventions and strategies in clinic and in the community setting to foster positive well-being and improved quality of life. Monitor and evaluate the individuals’ progress through both formal and informal assessments.
- Compliance and Ethics: Maintain high standards of ethical practice, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and professional guidelines.
