Job Details Job description: Mental Health Technician (Mental Health/SUD) Reports to: Regional Director of Behavior Health Services Supervises: Interns and On-Site Outpatient Facility Compensation: Commensurate with Experience Type: Part-time employment About ASun Star: Founded in 2005, ASun Star provides services to individuals (adolescent, adult) and families within the our facility and the families’ home, school, and community. We utilize a strength-based approach and are dedicated to helping our families succeed within their respective community. We strive to help each individual to be “their biggest star” by striving towards their fullest potential and accomplishing goals that they have identified. We specialize in working with at-risk families and individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our facility provides outpatient services for individual diagnosed with Mental Health and SUD diagnoses. Overview on Position: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Technician. The Mental Health Technician will be involved aspects of the client’s treatment. Must be able to work with participants and families by providing dignity with care. The Mental Health Worker will work directly with an assigned Mental Health Professional and under the direction of the Regional Director of Behavior Health Services. This role involves working both on-site and via telehealth to help individuals and families navigate the challenges of substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The ideal candidate will use evidence-based practices to provide high-quality assessment, treatment planning, and counseling services to support long-term recovery and well-being. Key Responsibilities: Maintains a caseload and is responsible for clinical record, treatment planning, weekly sessions and progress notes and aftercare and discharge planning. Weekly 45-60 minutes individual counseling session with each client. Client financial counseling re: savings, fines, child support, alimony, etc. Maintain up-to-date client files. Case conferences with immediate supervisor(s), i.e. assigned Mental Health Professional in alignment with 55 Pa. Code § 5200.41 and § 5200.43(b). Oversee assigned individual, group, family counseling sessions. Facilitate skill-building groups and psychoeducation sessions. Provide outreach, follow up, and case coordination as directed. Provides Crisis Intervention by de-escalation techniques, verbally. Maintain accurate records of service delivery. Provides and schedules recreational activities, community integration and specified courses within the context of each participants goals and behavioral objectives. Communications (letter, telephone, meeting) with Probation, Parole, etc. Referrals to DVR, HIV clinics, medical and social service agencies when required for participant. Provides monthly statistical reports to assist the Licensed Counselors with quantitative analysis of program outcomes to ASun Star Consulting, Inc. ASun Star – Policy and Procedure Outpatient Clinic Job description: Reports to: Mental Health Worker Clinical Director/Supervisor include goals and the treatment process. Attend on an on-going basis, courses towards licensing status (if applicable), agency trainings and in-services. Promotes and teaches personal development courses and links participants with area resources. Have prepared materials for all meetings. Attend staff meetings, client treatment team meetings and provides charting and updates. Complete knowledge of written assignments and proper presentation to participants. Assists with developing community linkages such as: 1. Neighborhood health centers 2. Planned parenthood 3. Adult education courses 4. Voter information Assists with setting up life skills sessions for the counseling staff to conduct education session such as: 1. Simulated settings for: 1. Library 2. Banking 3. Interview techniques 4. First aide 5. Physical fitness 6. Senior group events 7. Housekeeping 8. Job application process Restraints, isolation, exclusion is prohibited in the outpatient program program. 23. Will assist with showing and demonstrating evacuation routes and safety features. 24. Will undergo all required state and program clearances. Will assist the program with the collection of materials needed to better serve the individuals such as documents for advocacy, personal self-care, community integration and self-help groups within the surrounding counties. Will provides monthly statistical reports with qualitative analysis of program outcomes. Is a mandated reporter. Should the Mental Health Worker witness or participate in an event, such as an incident of crime against a program participant, the Mental Health Worker is required by law to report it to the State and ASun Star. The Mental Health Worker will participate in onboarding training of the UIR (Unusual Incident Report) process as well as ongoing trainings, that lists all categories of reportable incidents. Qualifications Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelors’ Degree from a college or university that is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Dept of Education or the CHEA in a recognized discipline including social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, or activities therapy. Or has a graduate degree in a clinical discipline w/ 12 graduate level credits in mental health counseling from a program accredited by an agency by the US Dept of Education or the CHEA. Or, has an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the AICE or the NACES (dept will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency. Must have experience with the counseling process, mental health diagnosis and local resources. Must have good to excellent written and oral communications skills. Must be proficient with computer skills and function as an appropriate role model and function as part of a team. At least one (1) year experience in the social service field.
